Test Drive Unlimited Solar Crown DLC offered as compensation for launch issues

Nacon has announced how it plans to compensate players for Test Drive Unlimited Solar Crown’s launch issues.

Following the game’s release on September 12, “many players found their experience marred by technical and server difficulties”, according to the publisher.

To make up for the launch issues, customers who played the game before September 30 will be offered two exclusive in-game items free of charge.

These include an ‘Adventurer’ off-road edition of the 1986 Porsche 911 Carrera Coupe and a pack of five stickers for customising their cars.

These will be added to qualifying players’ inventories “in December, for the opening of Season 2”.

Nacon will release the game’s second major patch on November 5 at 9am UTC.

“This update primarily focuses on graphical enhancements for PS5,” it said. “The patch also optimises game performance on PC and Xbox Series. Additionally, it includes network upgrades, improved peripheral compatibility, and numerous bug fixes.”

VGC awarded the game 3/5 stars in our Test Drive Unlimited Solar Crown review.

“Solar Crown is a perfectly enjoyable open-world racing game with solid handling and plenty to do, but its world map is too large to maintain a consistent level of detail and it loses some personality as a result,” we said.

“This, combined with occasional frame rate issues even in Performance mode give the game an unpolished feel. If you’re looking for a new open-world racer we’d still recommend it, as long as you don’t expect anything particularly innovative.”
